How do I use this blog?

This blog is to be used in conjunction with the Texas Instruments TI-83, TI-83/84 Plus/Silver Ed. calculators. I have included in the postings how to do each of the processes listed in the individual posts. I will add processes as needed or requested. If there is a process you wish to accomplish using these calculators, please send me a post and I will add it to my list.

Deleting an App from the Calculator

1. Press [2nd], [MEM] to display the MEMORY menu 2. Select MEM Mgt/Del 3. Select APPS 4. Use arrow buttons until the cursor is next to the APP you wish to delete 5. Press the [DEL] button 6. Select YES when asked "Are You Sure?" 7. Press [2nd], [QUIT} to return to the "Home Screen" *after the APP has been deleted, the calculator may give you the following message..."defragmenting", this is OK. This means that it is just "resetting" itself after the deletion and there is no need to panic or push any buttons

Steps for downloading an App to put on the Calculator

1. Connect to the TI website download center at http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/US/homePage/index.html and click the Downloads tab 2. In the “Downloads”, click the Apps icon & then select the calculator you are going to download to. This will take you to take you to where all of the current apps are located 3. Choose the desired app to download 4. Choose the correct download for the calculator you are downloading to 5. Click on the accept button for the Agreement 6. Click on the app to be downloaded in the “pick up window” 7. Choose to save the download to your desktop

Steps to send an App from your Computer to the Calculator

1. Once you have your app saved to your desktop, connect your calculator to your computer using the link cable and make sure the calculator is turned on 2. find your app on your desktop 3. move cursor to app and while holding down your left mouse key “drag” the app icon to the TI Connect Icon and “drop” release the left mouse button sending the app to the TI Connect software 4. TI Connect will then “send” your app to your calculator 5. Once the computer is finished sending the app to your calculator, the TI Connect screen will close

Steps to Use StudyCards

1. If the TI StudyCard creator icon is on your desktop, double click the icon to open the creator program 2. Choose either to create a “new stack” or to open an “existing stack” and click ok 3. If a new stack is being created, you need to chose the correct device to “send” your stack to and chose whether your stack will be a “self check, self check with levels, multiple choice, or multiple choice with levels” type of stack 4. Self check cards are just that, they do not give any feedback as to whether the answer is correct or incorrect, this is done by the user. All multiple choice cards are checked by the calculator instantly. 5. Fill-in all information at the top of the screen (title, version, created by, etc.) 6. Fill-in the name of the card to be created 7. Type the desired information to be on the “front” of the card on the left screen and the desired information to be on the “back” of the card on the right screen 8. To make a new card you can use ctrl+shift+N or use the edit tab and select New Card from here 9. Crate as many cards as desired for your stack. 10. You can either Save the stack (traditional way of saving a file) or send the stack to a calculator by clicking the calculator icon in the toolbar or using ctrl+T keys

Steps to Use ScreenCapture

1. Connect your calculator to your computer using your TI Link Cable 2. Double Click on the TI Connect icon on your desktop to open the TI Connect “dashboard” 3. Single Click on the TI ScreenCapture icon to open the ScreenCaptrue program, this will “connect” your calculator to your computer 4. Enter the desired information into your calculator, this should be the information you wish to transfer from the calculator to the computer 5. Once you have the desired information on your calculator screen, click on the camera icon in the toolbar to “capture” the image on the screen of the calculator 6. The image is then transferred to the screen of your computer, multiple images may be sent to your computer and will be held until you “close” each window, but only one image may be sent at one time 7. After the image has been captured, you can copy & paste the image into a word document, a power point presentation or any other document/file as desired. To do this you must make sure that the image you want to copy is “highlighted”, then you use the ctrl+C kesy to copy the image. 8. Open the file/document you wish to past the image into and use the crtl+V keys to paste the image where you want it to be

Get a Table of Values and use this to produce a Graph

1. Solve Linear Equation for y. 2. Put this new Equation inot the calculator in the "y =" area. 3. Press the "2nd" button, then the "GRAPH" button to get to the table of values. 4. Select 3 - 5 points from the table and plot them on your graph paper. 5. Draw the line/"connect the dots." 6. Label your graph.
